Obituary of Gertrude Elaine Barker

It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of Gertrude (Fitz) Barker at the Red Deer Hospital due to complications from her Leukemia diagnosis this past May.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Gordon; daughter Tara-Leigh (Johan) Blankenstein; son Lindsay; grandchildren Avery, Mila, and Jude; sisters Gwyneth (George) Harrison and Joanne Rogusky; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family. Also grieving her passing is Reza Torabi, who after immigrating to Canada readily began calling her his mother. Gertrude’s capacity to love made plenty of room for him, as well. Gertrude was predeceased by her parents Jonah in 1942, and Frieda in 2013.

A celebration of life will be held at Deer Park Alliance Church, 2960 - 39 St, Red Deer, AB on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers at the Red Deer Hospital for their professionalism, kindness, and care shown to Gertrude.
