Obituary of Cheryl Elizabeth Dunn
Cheryl was born on October 1, 1952, in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, and raised on a farm near Falun, AB, with her parents and six siblings. She was the youngest of two brothers and four sisters. Cheryl passed away in the Red Deer Hospice on June 24, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
While growing up on the farm, Cheryl loved riding horses, skating on the river, tobogganing in the winter, and hanging out with her cousins and her Grandpa Lindsey. She always had lots of fun on the farm with the best parents in the world.
After graduating from Pigeon Lake High School, Cheryl moved to Edmonton where she was employed at AGT as a Key Punch Operator. She married Terry Dunn in 1974 in Hawaii and together they moved to an acreage by Stony Plain with their young children. Cheryl worked tirelessly as a Typesetter and Production Manager at the Stony Plain newspaper for over 10 years while raising her children.
When she lived in Bentley, AB, she worked at Parkland Manor, a long-term care facility, as a Dietary Care Aide. Although the work was challenging, she was a very dependable worker and found it rewarding to connect with the seniors living there.
Cheryl was a very kind hearted person, always willing to listen and support others. Some of her pastimes included spending quality time with her family and friends, decorating her home into a tranquil haven, and sewing or quilting creative gifts for others such as book bags, pillow cases, and quilts. She enjoyed a good cup of coffee, reading about local history, and taking road trips around Alberta and B.C. to visit others. Cheryl found gardening and feeding the backyard birds worthwhile as well as making homemade preserves such as salsa and pickles.
She loved traveling and enjoyed trips to Mexico, Cuba, Ireland, and Palm Springs.
Cheryl valued family a lot and partaking in family gatherings during the holidays were special to her.

Cheryl leaves behind her two daughters Jody and Jackie; one granddaughter Savanna; three sisters Betty (Martin) Kiffiak, Joan Beamish, and Trudy Odenbach; one brother Bart Lindsey; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; as well as her long time friends Muriel Hanson, Tammy Halko, Patti Lindsey, and Wendy Mallard and many kind & supportive neighbours within the community she resided in.
She was predeceased by her father Rex Lindsey, mother Doris, sister Marlene, and brother Dalt.
Our mom enjoyed picnics with her girls, going to museums, listening to live music and making delicious food. She was so excited to become a grandma and she loved to laugh with Savanna and tickle her neck. She taught Savanna about nature and birds.
She was an amazing mom and grandma. The three of us girls were blessed to have her in our lives.
Rest in Peace Mom. You will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered. You are at peace and comfort now, wrapped in the loving arms of the angels.
Forever in our hearts you’ll remain.
Thank you to many family members, friends, and neighbours who supported Cheryl with her journey including Red Deer Hospice.
