Obituary of Ryan Gerald Smith

Ryan Gerald Smith of Calgary AB, passed away on February 23, 2024 at the age of 50 years. Born and raised in Edmonton, Ryan completed his law degree at the University of Alberta and was called to the Bar in Calgary. He completed his MBA at the Haskayne School of Business in Calgary. Ryan met Marnie in 2006 and were married in 2010 in Kapalua, Maui where they celebrated with close friends and family.

Ryan was an avid outdoor enthusiast and loved Canmore, Jackfish Lake, the Canadian Rockies and West Coast (Ucleulet) where he and his family enjoyed exploring our beautiful Canadian parks. He loved to travel and had the great fortune of visiting many incredible destinations with his wife and family. 

Ryan was an amazing husband, father, son, and friend and will be remembered for his dedication to his family; his curiosity for the world and the diversity of its cultures and food; his ability to curate incredible adventures for friends and family; and for being the strong, loyal and solid foundation for those who loved him most. 

Ryan will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marnie; two daughters Eva-Marie (9) and Addilyn (7); mother Pat Smith; nephew Connor Smith, niece Lauren Smith; sister-in-law Nicole Smith; extended family Glen, Rhonda and Steven Thomlison; as well as numerous loving relatives and friends. Ryan was predeceased by his brother Kelly and father Gerry in 2019.

A Celebration of Ryan's life will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Earl Grey Golf Club, 6540 - 20 St. SW, Calgary AB.
