Marlene Lee

Obituary of Marlene Helen Lee

Marlene passed away peacefully at the age of 82 in Red Deer Alberta. Marlene was born in Souris, Manitoba to Elizabeth and George Mott. She was the youngest of three girls. She lived her younger life in southern Manitoba where she married and had her first 3 children. In 1968, Marlene moved with her children to Alberta where her youngest child was born. She later resided in Harmattan with her husband Robert E. Lee until 1996. When he passed away, she moved to Red Deer to be closer to her children.  She resided there, surrounded by her loving family, until her death.

Marlene worked in the food industry starting as a waitress and progressed into operating and managing kitchens. She worked at Sundre Lodge, Victoria Park Retirement, and her last job was combined with one of her passions at Alberta Springs Golf course up to her retirement at 70 years old.  Marlene had many interests such as curling, golfing, snowmachining, horseback riding, and gardening. Her most beloved times were spent with her family especially on game nights. Christmas was always a large gathering as all her children, and later (great) grandchildren, came home to Mom’s / Gram’s.

Marlene treasured her family, and she was always the first to lend a helping hand or a shoulder to lean on. She was the protective Mama Bear and a fabulous detective. She always seemed to know all that was happening with her kids (and the grands and the greats) even though she had to ask 20 questions.

Marlene leaves to mourn her children Krista Jasper, Tami Bilton, Sheldon Jasper, Anita (Sid) Haslam. Grand children Destiny, Brandi, Randy, Sasha (Drew), James (Sam), Hope, Nicole, Jett. Great grandchildren Jayda, Simon, Dylan, Wyatt, Autumn, Felix, Nixen, Jemma, Milo, Braxon, Octavia. Extended family: Char Jasper and Courtney Jasper. Special friend and companion Trigger. Several nieces, nephews and friends.

Marlene was predeceased by her husband Robert E. Lee, Sisters: Catherine Bodin and Donna Storozuk as well as her eldest grandson Adam Jasper.

As per Marlene’s request there will be no formal service.  A private family gathering will be planned for a later date.

Condolences to Marlene’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate “Lee” in the subject line.
