Obituary of Lillian Louise Kent
Lillian “Lill” Louise Kent (nee Bec) passed away at the age of 72 years old on November 6, 2023, in the Red Deer Hospice after a brave and courageous battle with cancer.
Lill was born on July 11, 1951 in Edam Saskatchewan where she lived until she was almost 5 years old, then moving to Red Deer Alberta where she resided until her passing. Lill is mourned by her loving husband of 36 years, Paul. She leaves behind daughter Jodi (Randy), daughter Abby (Jordan) stepdaughter Leena (Praneel) stepdaughter Sara (Peel). Cherished Grandchildren; Niki, Mandy, Ashley, Dylan, Caylin, Syliva, Skyler, Brooklyn, and Gabby. Great grandchildren, Klara, Lenka, Emily, Orlando and Evyena. Lill’s sisters Darlene (Doug) Marie (Miles) Lorraine (Grant) Diane, Eunice (Jamie). Lill is predeceased by her parents Louis and Elsie Bec and nephew Clayton Rix. Lill was aunty to Shawn, Dione, Dawn, Jenny, Sarah, Krista, Jesse, and Alisha, as well as many great nieces and nephews. Lill is also mourned by many cousins in Saskatchewan, and a wide circle of close friends, including Lill’s best friend of 58 years, Delphine Derbyshire.
Lill was very proud to have worked for the Alberta Transportation Board for 31 years making lifelong friendships that she treasured deeply.
Lill was the life of the party and loved to visit with friends and family. She was thoughtful, funny, compassionate, and loyal. Lill loved being a mother to her girls, and cherished being a grandmother. She loved when her house was full, and family and friends were enjoying themselves, either inside the beautiful atrium at her home or out at the fire pit roasting marshmallows. Hosting large family dinners, sometimes for up to 50 people brought so much joy to her. She loved to sing, and dance…usually at the same time, and if a song she liked came on, she would turn up the dial to full blast.
Lill had a green thumb and was part of the Red Deer Garden Club for several years. There was always a garden to raid in the summer, either Saskatoon berries, raspberries, or peas to pick. You would always find the most unusual plant growing in her beloved atrium where she spent many hours pruning and planting her flowers and plants.
Over the last thirty years, Lill and Paul traveled the world with their closest friends, visiting many different countries. Europe was her favourite place, specifically, Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic. Lill enjoyed the food, the architecture, and mostly the people, she loved getting to know new people and letting everyone know, she was from Canada. It was a blessing she was able to visit Germany one last time several weeks before her passing.
Lill was diagnosed with Cancer in July of 2022. Lill triumphed through many chemo and radiation therapies, including multiple surgeries. She remained positive, brave, and hopeful. A huge thank you to the Central Alberta Cancer Centre, The Tom Baker Cancer Centre, the Red Deer Emergency Doctors, and Nursing Staff. The Innisfail Emergency Doctors and Nursing Staff. The Red Deer County Home Care Team, and of course the Red Deer Hospice staff and volunteers– you brightened her days.
