Obituary of Pat Riley

Pat Riley of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 6, 2023 at the age of 89 years with his daughter Sheri by his side.

Pat was born on July 24, 1934, to William Francis Riley and Rose Delima Corbin in Barrhead, Alberta and grew up in a homestead in Tiger Lily. Pat went on to join the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Fort Comox for three years. It was during this time of service his hearing was impaired. He went on to work in Tuktoyaktuk, NWT and then a milkman in Edmonton and then Fernie. He even tried his hand as a restaurateur. Pat lived in Red Deer for most of his life, where he primarily worked as an insurance agent with Fidelity Life for thirty years. While retired, Pat had time to enjoy tinkering with his tools around his home, researching his Irish roots and pursuing ballroom dance. 

Pat is the second child of six and is predeceased by his sister Delima and brothers Leonial (Leo) and Jerome (Jerry). 

Pat is survived by his spouse, Sandra Wood, and his children: Sheri Macardy Hanks; Lisa Boulding; Sean Riley; Tammi Snooke; and stepdaughter Shelley Castor (Ian); and his surviving grandchildren; Tanner Drost; Rachel Hanks; Megan Boulding; Justus Hanks; Riley Snooke (named after him); and Kira Castor; as well as great-grandchildren Hailey and Chase Drost. Also surviving are his brother Shannon Riley and sister Marleen (Garnier). Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.

Pat struggled with dementia, but ultimately, cancer quickened his time on earth. We have peace knowing his final years were lived to the fullest. Pat is now in the presence of his Lord and Saviour - whom he invited into his heart late in life. 

A memorial service to honour Pat's life will to be held at the Gathering Grounds located at the Free Grace Church,  1807 - 2 Avenue A, North, Lethbridge AB at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.  Luncheon to follow.
