Sharon Charnetski (nee Goldade) of Red Deer AB, beloved wife of Dwight Charnetski, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice on Monday, October 16th, at the age of 67.
Sharon was born June 19th, 1956, at the Prelate, Saskatchewan hospital. Sharon was born to Mike and Catherine Goldade. She was the first girl born, with six older brothers and the seventh child of a family of nine siblings.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 48 years and 5 months, Dwight; their two children Amanda and Ryan; two grandsons Kylin and Liam; five brothers Paul (Maryann), Melvin (Nicola), Albert (Jean), Bill (Susan), and Mike (Shirley); sister Bernadette (Bill Dawson); and also, by her new daughter in-law, Brandi (Mastel) as of Sept 9th 2023, and her two daughters Ava and Ashtyn.
Sharon was predeceased by her brothers Ken and Clarence (Donna); both parents Mike and Catherine; both sets of Grandparents, William and Monica (Weisgerber) Helfrich, and Sebastian and Josephine (Swengler) Goldade; as well as by many, aunts, uncles, and relatives.
Sharon grew up on the farm south of Prelate, Saskatchewan, and attended all of her schooling in Prelate. Sharon was noted for her competitiveness in sports with a passion for track & field, volleyball, softball, table tennis, and badminton - both as singles and doubles. Later, she took up golf, and of course hated to lose in a card game or table game!!
Sharon met the love of her life, Dwight, in High School. She was Dwight’s grad escort, and a year later, Dwight was her grad escort. Sharon and Dwight dated for two years before Sharon one day out of the blue asked Dwight if they should get married! They were engaged on November 11th, 1974, and married on May 17th, 1975. They were married in the Prelate church, before many relatives and friends. It felt like a marriage made in heaven, and along the great journey of life, they were blessed with two children and two grandchildren; some tears and many good laughs and memories; travels all over the world; keeping the farm homestead back in Saskatchewan; more travels, golf, beaches, and the tastes of foods from all over!
After Sharon’s completion of High school, she immediately entered the work force as an employee of the Prelate Credit Union and joined later with the Leader Credit Union. In 2002, she transferred to the Red Deer Parkland Credit Union as an internal auditor, until her long overdue retirement of 44 years, in late 2018.
One of Sharon’s bucket list items was to go to Europe, specifically Portugal and Spain. She wanted to golf in Europe and walk in the Mediterranean Sea, which she was able to check off this year!!!
After returning in spring 2023 from her winter trip in Portugal, Sharon developed a serious sounding cough! Getting worse, she agreed to go to the hospital to get it checked out. On August 8th, Sharon was admitted to the hospital to remove fluid from the lungs/heart area. The fluid was Cancerous and found in the lining around the heart. With no cure for Sharon’s cancer and her condition, she had a very short time of remaining life, lasting only 70 days.
A huge thank you to the Red Deer hospital staff, in the ICU and the other wards 22, 24, 32! In particular Dr. Bargava, and Nurse Anne. For the gentleness and kindness shown to Sharon during her trying times. Also, a great big thank you to the Red Deer Hospice! A facility the city and area should be so proud of.
Sharon has a guaranteed place in heaven based on her merits of faith, good nature, understanding of humanity, her giving nature, handing out great hugs, and loving one and all who entered her life. She had an incredible love of children and infants, always saying “this is the best of innocence”!!
May Sharon rest in peace for all eternity.
As per Sharon’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held on November 18th, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Frontier Room in Westerner Park, 4847a 19th Street, Red Deer. For those planning to attend, go through the Gallery Entrance between the Prairie Pavilion and the Stockmens Pavilion; and then take the stairs or elevators on the right, just past the concession.
