Obituary of Kenneth Louis Tighe
Mr. Kenneth Louis “Bud” Tighe of Red Deer, Alberta passed on October 23, 2023, at the age of 89 years. Ken was born in Didsbury, Alberta, on the 22nd day of May, 1934, the fifth child of Garnet and Ethel Tighe.
Ken lived on the farm east of Didsbury until attending Olds College where he did a two-year program in Agriculture, graduating in 1953. Upon completing his studies, he went to work for the Prairie Farmer Rehabilitation Act in Vauxhall and then Red Deer until he retired in May of 1989. In retirement, Ken and Eileen continued to enjoy Pine Lake in the summers and Yuma in the winters.
As a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Ken leaves to mourn his wife of 69 years Eileen Tighe (Richardson); children, Irene Bos, Louis (Doreen) Tighe, Maxine (Peter) Barlem, and Mark (Shauna Demas) Tighe; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, including those he made at the Moose Hall as he became an active member since moving to Red Deer in 1963. Ken was predeceased by his parents, three sisters and a brother.
A celebration of Ken’s Life will be held at The Pine Lake Hub Center, 36366 Range Road 252, Red Deer County, Alberta on Friday October 27, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. If desired, memorial donations in Ken’s honour may be made directly to the Lending Cupboard Society, 1, 7803 – 50 Ave, Red Deer AB T4P 1M8 or to Ronald McDonald House (Central Alberta), 5002 - 39 St., Red Deer AB T4N 2P2.
