Obituary of Helen Evelyn Hovland
Mrs. Helen Evelyn Hovland of Red Deer, passed away at Point West Living on September 8th, at the age of 93 years.
Helen was born June 26, 1930, in Kingman, Alberta, where she was raised on the family farm. She grew up riding her horse on the shores of Miquelin lake. Eventually meeting and marrying Glen Hovland of Holden, Alberta in 1951. In 1955 they moved to the valley centre district east of Red Deer; and then in 1973 to the Delburne area.
Helen enjoyed teaching and doing all kinds of arts and crafts. She also liked tending to her large garden. Helen and Glen also travelled extensively throughout Canada, U.S, and Europe. Helen’s infectious smile and easy going way endeared her to everyone. She will be dearly missed.
Helen will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Rod Hovland (Kyla) of Woods Bay, Montana, Roger Hovland (Kim) of Penhold, Alberta, Dean Hovland (Deb) of Delburne, Alberta; and her daughter Glenice Laracy (Patrick) of St. John’s, Newfoundland; six grandchildren Jennifer, Dave (Alana), Mery (Wes), Megan (Dean), Helen, and Karen; as well as by her six great grandchildren.
Helen was predeceased by her loving husband Glen (2013); mother Martha Helgren; brothers-in-law Reuben (Alice), and Raymond Hovland; and by her daughter-in-law Wendy (Hogan).
