Obituary of Robert Stanley Argent
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Stanley Argent, on August 8, 2023 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, peacefully surrounded by family.
Bob was born on August 1, 1948 in Belleville, Ontario, to parents William and Mandelean Argent. He lovingly grew up in Belleville, where he graduated from High School in 1966. His first job was as a carpenter’s apprentice, which only lasted six months because he didn't like the pay. His next job was working for AT&T, which put him in a position to travel west across the country. In 1968, after traveling through the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Alberta he decided that this was where he wanted to live. He settled in Calgary where he got a job working for Western airlines. In 1972 he married Lynn Jahraus, and in 1973 their daughter Suzy was born. In 1975, after a divorce which granted him full custody, Bob and Suzy moved to Red Deer, where he started working as a news and sports anchor for CKRD. After that he worked for Alberta transportation as a land surveyor and soils technician. It was in Red Deer that Bob met Patti Kinniburgh. They were married in 1982 and had three children, Becky (1984) Steven (1987) and Tim (1988).
In 1987 Bob started his own company, Sundance Productions, a videography and DJ service specializing in weddings, holiday and community events. In his later years he also discovered a love for photography and was often seen with a camera in hand taking pictures of anything and everything that inspired him. For many years Bob was a devoted Cub and Scout leader within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He always had a great enthusiasm for life; he was a kind, compassionate man who loved to laugh and make others laugh. His love was felt by many in the community and in the faith that he belonged to. His hobbies included photography, biking, camping, canoeing, skiing, fishing and hiking. He loved spending time with his family, particularly his six grandchildren.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife Patti; daughters Suzy Argent and Becky (Mark) Anderson and son Steven (Christine) Argent. He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Cole, Marlie, Lily, Willem, Nova and Jemma. Bob was predeceased by his parents William and Mandelean Argent; step-father Jack Maracle; sister Sharon, and son Tim.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Bob on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 2:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3002 – 47 Avenue, Red Deer AB.
