Obituary of Jessie Louise Grant
The family of Jessie Louise Grant are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Jessie Louise Grant at the Red Deer Hospice on July 15, 2023 at the age of 80 years. Jessie is survived by her loving husband Don; five children Beth (predeceased Kevin), Diann (Al), Alex (Joann), Karin (Bing) and Kevin (Samantha); numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also to cherish Jessie’s memory are one sister; one brother; two sisters in law and several nieces and nephews. Jessie was predeceased by her parents; her first husband and father of her six children (David Ritchie); eldest daughter (Laurel); one sister, and three brothers in law.
Jessie had a fulfilling life serving and helping people as she spent much of her life in the food service industry starting as a car hop and moving her way to management in a variety of restaurants in the Red Deer area. Jessie was proud of the success she achieved and the people she helped along the way. Upon retirement from the food industry, she ran a gift shop at the Red Deer Lodge Hotel & Conference Centre. When Jessie closed the gift shop, she could not be idle, so she worked a few more years as an usher at the Red Deer Centrium arena.
After meeting Don, they travelled extensively from coast to coast for their honeymoon and to various curling events. During this time, she met and made many new friends. Jessie was also an avid fan of hockey, football and rodeo events.
Jessie’s proudest moments were meeting and welcoming new additions to her family.
Jessie will be laid to rest in Bentley alongside her parents at a private interment. A celebration tea will be held at the Hamlets, 338 – Liberty Avenue, Red Deer County, on August 12, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers and cards, donations to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 – Arnot Avenue, Red Deer, AB, T4R 3S6 (reddeerhospice.com) would be greatly appreciated.
Condolences to Jessie’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate “Grant” in the subject line.
