Obituary of Arie Cornelis Valstar

Arie Cornelis Valstar of Rocky Mountain House passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on August 20, 2022, at the age of 85 years.

Arie was born in March of 1937 in Hillegersberg, Holland. Arie, along with his family, immigrated to Canada in 1949 to the Castor area. Arie and his family moved to Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, where they grew up.

Arie worked in the oilfield and eventually moved to High Level, Alberta, where he started his Valstar Trucking business and also had a homestead. Once he retired and moved back to Rocky Mountain House, he started a hobby farm in Condor, where he had cattle; you could find him there every day. He also loved hunting, fishing and camping with his family.

Arie loved being around his family, enjoying his 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Arie loved going to his family reunions, and holidays with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family was his priority and he enjoyed being with them once he retired.

Arie is survived by his companion, Mary; son, Robert (Lisa); grandchildren, Robert, Vanessa, Jolissa (Jerry), Cody (Sarah), Jesse (Heather), Tyler, Clay, Kayla (Brian), Dillon, Jordan (Hayley), and Tjana; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gus (Marg) Valstar, Dirk (Sandy) Valstar; sisters, Lien (Hank) Vandermeulen, Nell DeRuyter, Audrey (Dennis) Ladd, and Anne Terpsma. He was predeceased by his sons Harry, Dale and Walter; parents Arie and Pietronella; brothers Hank and Peter; and sisters Johanna and Nellie.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Arie’s life will be held at St. Leonard's on the Hill Anglican Church, 4241- 44 St., Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 1:00 pm.
