Obituary of Barrie John Schultz
Barrie John Schultz of Red Deer, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on July 7, 2022 at the age of 71 years. Barrie was born in Calgary, Alberta in September of 1950. He attended and graduated from Neelin High School in Branden MB.
Barrie held many careers throughout his years, including driving truck for Barberellis Trucking in Edmonton, driving instructor for Bonnie Doon Driving School in Edmonton and Chinook Driving School in Calgary. He then owned and operated Young Drivers of Canada and the International Driving School in Calgary. Barrie then decided to become a bus driver with Calgary Transit then moved to Red Deer and worked as a bus driver and supervisor for Red Deer Transit, retiring in 2009.
Barrie was known by family and friends for his sense of humor, his love of good music, cooking and good food. He also enjoyed the Christmas season, building models, leather tooling, pets, cars, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Barrie is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Vickie Schultz; son Matt (Erin) Schultz; daughters Suzzane Morgan, Christine (Tim) Long; sisters Karen (Brian) Lee, Donna (Steve) Jacobson; father-in-law Donald Stannard; brother-in-law Kelly Stannard; sisters-in-law Jody (Calvin) Leslie, and Deanna (Barry) Tank and special friend who was like a daughter, Jenelle (Wade) Brown. Barrie will also be fondly remembered by numerous other family members and friends. Barrie was predeceased by his parents John and Anastasia as well as his mother-in-law Georgina Kanda.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Barrie’s life will be held at Deer Park Alliance Church, 2960 – 39 St, Red Deer AB on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Barrie’s honor may be directed to the Central Alberta Humane Society, 4505 - 77 St., Red Deer AB T4P 2J1.
