Obituary of Jan Mark Harkema

Jan, who resembled Santa Claus with his white beard, was a larger-than-life husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a story for everything and made friends everywhere he went. Jan had a passion for motorcycles and loved long trips with his wife, Dawn, and fast and furious rides with his friends. He rebuilt many a motorcycle.

Underneath his gruff exterior, Jan had a gentler side – cuddling his grandchildren, crying over Chloe the cat’s death, loving his wife and family, and helping friends far and wide.

At 62 years of age, Jan left behind his wife, Dawn; his children, Aleah (Mitchell) and Joshua (Kelly); and seven grandchildren, along with a host of good friends.

A celebration by invitation is planned for August 2021.
