Obituary of Allan Thomas Woodrow
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Allan Thomas Woodrow of Red Deer, Alberta on November 18, 2019 at the age of 85 years.
On December 20, 1933, Allan and his family made the move from Monitor, Alberta to the family farm in the Red Deer area. His formal education began at the age of five at the Clearview School. After he finished school, Allan married Alice Pierce. Together they ran the family farm with Allan's dad. Eventually, Allan and Alice took over the farming operations. Allan was well known in the community for taking on the role of Santa Claus at the mall during the Christmas season. He was also a bouncer at the Capri Hotel as well as working in real estate to supplement his income.
Allan is survived by Marjorie Proehl, his loving partner of 14 years; children Keith Woodrow, Steve (Edie) Woodrow, and Donna (Stephen) Sybom; daughter-in-law Gladys Woodrow; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Allan was predeceased by his siblings Edwin, Jim, Lynn, and Laural; wife Alice in 2004; and son Chuck.
A private family Celebration of Life and interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Allan's name to STARS Foundation, Box 570, 1441 Aviation Park NE, Calgary AB, T2E 8M7.
