Obituary of Roy Thomas
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
ROY THOMAS
DECEMBER 18, 1944 - SEPTEMBER 22, 2020
It is with heavy hearts we said goodbye to our brother Roy on September 22, 2020 at the age of 75 years.
Roy was the oldest of four children born to Mary and Clay Thomas of Three Hills, AB. Roy’s contagious personality won him many great friends from Bragg Creek where he resided; from ATCO Gas where he worked for 25 years; and Three Hills where he lived with his family in the earlier years.
Roy was a great sports fan, enjoying hockey, rodeo, curling, football, racing skidoos and waterskiing at Pine Lake. Dad always joked about Roy going to SAIT to learn how to curl.
Roy is remembered for his big heart, great sense of humour, love, and positive attitude. He fought a long battle with cancer showing so much courage and strength until the end.
He leaves to mourn his three sisters, Myrna (Larry) Matthews, Gloria (Jim) Smith and Lyla Foster (Norm Jensen); two children Tiffany and Craig and their families, as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces and loved friends. He is predeceased by his mom and dad, Mary and Clay Thomas, a niece and numerous aunts and uncles.
Due to COVID-19, a graveside service was held at the Sarcee Butte Cemetery east of Three Hills. In memory of Roy, donations can be made to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 Arnot Avenue, Red Deer, T4R 3S6; Tom Baker Cancer Centre, c/o Alberta Cancer Foundation, 710-10123-99 Street N.W. Edmonton, AB, T5J 3H1 or a charity of one’s choice.
Condolences for the family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net.
