Obituary of Lucienne Bayers
Lucy Bayers (nee Miller/Benoit) passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on August 10, 2020 at the age of 86 years young. Born in Saskatchewan to Florida and Narcisse Benoit. Her young life took her to Alberta, with new husband Ernie Miller, another Saskatchewan citizen. To this marriage they added two children Glenn and Karen. Later in her life she married Wilf Bayers who passed in 2004. She loved music and was an accomplished organ and accordion player and enjoyed dancing. She had a passion for gardening, and this was still evident at her passing by her healthy garden at the Twilight Cottages, where she has lived for many years. She loved a good game of cards and rummoli was a family favorite, especially during Christmas. Her homemade perogies and pickles were well sought after by family and friends. She was immensely proud to be 25 years sober and was an acknowledged and respected leader in Alcohol Anonymous in Red Deer.
In her later years, she was a dedicated volunteer for the Friends of the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre and the Red Deer Seniors Downtown House.
She is survived by her daughter Karen, her grandson Michael and his family, Annaliese, and three great grandchildren, Kadence, James and Georgia and her son Glen. She is also survived by her sisters, Allie and Edna and a brother Paul and a large loving extended family and a wonderful group of friends .She was predeceased by her grandson Jamie, Ernie Miller – father of her children, her husband Wilf, her parents, her sisters, Alma, Florence, Rosina, Anita and her brothers, Alfred and Albert.
The family gives gratitude to her care team, Dr Holmes and Dr Ryan and during her hospitalization, Dr Gregg, Dr Panayides and Dr Eleason and the most amazing nursing team on Unit #23 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. Your love and compassion shown to Lucy and the family was outstanding and so appreciated.
At Lucy’s request, no funeral will be held. She will be cremated and interned with her parents and two siblings in Albertville, Saskatchewan.
