Obituary of Donna Irene Plante

Donna Irene Plante of Red Deer passed away with family by her side on October 22, 2019 at the age of 80 years.

We celebrate the beautiful life of our dear mother who is now in heaven with our Lord. She is now free to continue to play her music and to dance with Dad and all of the angels. Mom and Dad were married in 1957 and enjoyed 46 years together before Dad passed away in 2003. They were by each other’s side in love, in parenting, and in business. Mom was fortunate to meet Art Dahl in the summer of 2006 and they were married in 2007. Their love of southern gospel music brought them together and they spent summers travelling around Alberta in their RV.

Mom will be lovingly remembered by her 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, her sisters Edith, Audrey, Lois, her brother Ron (Rosemary), and sisters-in-law Arlene, Lorraine, Charlotte, Laurette, Lilly, and Sandy. Mom was predeceased by her three brothers Gerald, Leonard, and Kenneth.

To all who knew her, it was very clear that Mom’ gift was her music. She spent her life sharing the gift every Sunday morning playing the piano or organ in church. She was also the owner of Classic Keyboard Distributors in Red Deer. Her accordion was never far away and you could guarantee she would be called upon to play at family reunions. Many fellow campers would be drawn to their campfire during the summer whenever she began playing. Her musical gift made friends out of strangers.

We will miss her for now, but we are so thankful for the love and Christian values she instilled in our hearts. We know that we will be reunited with her one day in eternity. Mom, all our love is with you. Dennis, Dale, Terry (Rose), Melanie (Rick), and Brent (Kim).

A Memorial Service to celebrate Donna’s life will be held at the First Baptist Church, 4310 – 39 St., Red Deer AB on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to Make-A-Wish Northern Alberta, 16007 – 118 Ave, Edmonton AB T5V 1C7.
